Coalport Soup Dish (1825)

A Coalport soup dish made about 1825.

The dish is beautifully decorated with 3 large cartouches of hand-painted flowers and a large centre bunch. The detail and colour of the flower painting is an excellent example of the workmanship of the time. There are 3 small cartouches in the rich blue sides of the dish. There is a liberal use of gold to pick out the cartouches and the rim. There are no marks on dish but it almost certainly falls within the 3rd pattern book of Coalport (ie with a number between 2/171 and 2/508. The dish measures 248 mm diameter and is 42 mm deep.
