Minton Embossed Cup and Saucer (1828)
The Minton factory stopped producing porcelain in 1816 and did not resume porcelain manufacture until 1824. The cup has a 4 lobed base rim so it appears to stand on feet, a style popular in the Rococo Revival period between 1820-1850. An embossed design of leaves from the base rim up the side of the cup and around the centre design of the saucer are highlighted in gold. The upper outsides of the cup and saucer are hand-painted in roses. Inside the cup is a country scene of a farm/manor house, beside a lake with trees. The pattern number is 854 drawn in small gold numbers. The tea cup has a diameter of 95 mm and a height of 51 mm.
