Minton and Boyle Trio (1850)
A Minton and Boyle trio made in 1850.
The shape is a Meissen or Tournai shape with a handle that bifurcates at the top rim of the cups. The pattern is based on richly painted sprays of flowers of different sizes. The light blue colour is typical of this period and was used extensively by Minton as well as other potteries. The trio has no marks but the shape, sizes and colour are a fairly certain identification. The tea cup has a diameter of 96 mm and a height of 66 mm; the coffee cup diameter is 85 mm with a height of 69 mm.
