My Collection
1818 – 1875
The porcelain made during this long period of time was English bone china. The rapid growth of industrial towns created a large market for both cheaper porcelain and more expensive tea and dinner ware for the “self-made” men. Size of tea cups increased and decoration on cheaper ware was mainly transfer printed with some hand colouring to highlight a design. On the more expensive pieces, beautiful hand painting and gilding were executed to a high standard.
